The Lobos (9-5, 4-2) make an important road trip to Colorado Springs this weekend to take on Air Force (6-4-1, 3-0-3) and Colorado College. The Lobos are tied for second place in the conference with UNLV and Air Force, just one point behind SJSU with five matches remaining in the regular season. There is still a lot to be determined for the conference tournament and where the Lobos stand the race. For the second straight season, there will most likely be a team with a winning record that won’t make the tournament. The Lobos have played well this season, with only momentary lapses leading to their two conference losses. If the Lobos are able to go 2-0-0 this weekend, they should be a lock to make the tournament.

- The top six teams will advance to the MW Tournament, with the top 2 seeds receiving first round byes. It is very likely that Nevada will go winless, so you can pretty much add 3 points to every team that plays them during the last 5 matches.
- SJSU is the clear favorite to win the regular season title. They already hold the tiebreaker against UNM, and host both UNLV and AFA during their final 5 matches.
- The Lobos will play three teams that also will be fighting to make the top 6 in road matches at AFA and Wyoming followed by a home match SDSU to close the season.
Air Force Falcons:
The Falcons are a defensive-minded side that will gladly take a 0-0 draw, but will look for moments to win the match 1-0. The Falcons play a very disciplined style of soccer, so their mistakes are very limited. Their defense will give their fair share of shots, but very few of them will be great chances. Look for the Lobos to try and take advantage of corner kicks and deep throw-ins to score the game winner. Second and third balls will be very important in this match. The Falcons have one goal scorer in Brooke Rittmann (5 Goals), so the Lobos will focus on limiting her impact on the match.

- Claire Lynch (6 goals) and Jessie Hix ( 4 goals) have provided most of the scoring for the Lobos. Seven other Lobos have scored a goal this season.
- Eleven players have recorded an assist this season. Jessica Nelson and Jennifer Munoz lead the team with 2 assists.
- Emily Johnson has done extremely well in goal this season, and the backline has done a great job of limiting opportunities for the opponents.
- Things have really opened up during the second half of matches this season. If either team is able to score early in this match, they will be heavy favorites to win the match heading into the second half.
Match Prediction:
Brace yourself for a defensive-minded match, the most likely outcomes of the match are 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1. The Lobos have the better offensive team and the two sides are very even on the backline. I think the Lobos have a 30% chance of winning the match and a 78% chance of getting a result. I have the Lobos winning the match 1-0 on a header from Jessie Hix.
